No - Spoken From Experience (Yoga Creates Hypocrites)

  1. Outside of the opportunity to nap (which was admittedly nice, although probably not appreciated by the rest of the class), I find yoga to be a big waste of time (I find running just to run a big waste of time too).
You don't do anything -- nothing is created in it (ok, "inner peace" but a person can get inner peace from painting or reading a book, or gardening and taking photos, a million things you can do, and they've seemingly gotten more accomplished than just putting their bodies in weird contortions or running or biking a route without taking in the scenery in some significant way). Seems like a big waste of time...and a way to turn off your intelligence (I detest gyms too, for the same reason -- damn what a boring way to spend a few hours, shut up in a sweaty room on a treadmill, yippeee!).

(admittedly I do love hiking and canoeing, but it's a worthless endeavor if you don't take along a camera or sketch pad, and looking for new places to hunt/fish and find mushrooms, etc. is an added plus...and makes you look at the scenery, which aimless marching and paddling around does not. gack)
Which is one of my biggest beefs with hippies et al. -- a lot of fiddling around and not actually doing anything, why???
