High Schoolers Cutting Themselves To Feel Something Have No Idea What's Up

It's pretty ironic, after Trump's declared a "Golden Age," it mostly winds up referring to embers in the fires.
It's either that or Trump's gaudy redecorating of the White House, which Barack Obama kind-of predicted, though Trump has limited himself to the interior, so far.

David French writes in The New York Times that "America Is No Longer a Stable Country", when - the general consensus is - American never was a stable country. If it was, somebody's got to explain our Israel policy.
Which means our policy of abusing Palestinians, like we abuse ourselves:
DOO-WAH-DIDDY-DIDDY-DUMB-DIDDY-DOO: "Jane Doe’s testimony adds significant weight to the prosecution’s narrative that Combs operated not merely as a celebrity with eccentric private behavior, but as the leader of a calculated system of abuse and exploitation. Her statements—especially concerning financial dependence, drug use, and the psychological toll of participating in unwanted sexual activities—may prove critical in establishing the intent and criminal enterprise required for conviction under sex trafficking and racketeering laws."

DEVO-LUTION: A Life In Music Is Funny (Mine Is Anyway)

There was once this band out of Akron, Ohio, who found they wanted to change their sound.

And - while in Los Angeles - they heard that new sound in a kid visiting from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The band went on to write their biggest hit.

But their record company couldn't hear "Whip It" immediately - they rallied around a song called "Girl U Want" and pushed it HARD - but it still flopped. And they blamed the band.

The band didn't know why. DEVO co-founding member, Gerald Casale, recently said:
"I love that song. I guess If Axl Rose covered it, it would have been a No. 1 hit."

Why am I telling you this? Because I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and just happened to work for a radio station.

While there, I also heard someone from Minneapolis, Minnesota who inspired me to explore music further.
And, once I did, wouldn't you know comparisons started being made to Axl Rose?

I just want to tell DEVO to blame their record company: despite the fans loving it, using "Girl U Want" as the middle eighth to one of my songs didn't do shit for my career, either.

Have Blacks Made Shows Only To Make Fun Of Whites?

I'm with you 100% except for one difference - however they're portrayed, Duck Dynasty signed up for the heckling of themselves and others like them:

There wasn't nothing "reality television" about Amos & Andy,...

Glenn Reynolds Is The Right's Race-Baiting Blogfather

He's promoting some other gun-toting yahoo, going on about "Apartheid Santa in Los Angeles,” like they forgot the most important thing that spurred apartheid:

The evil whites on the other side of the divide.

You know, like blacks weren't just minding our own business (black Santas aren't a new phenom in Los Angeles as Glenn and the lunatic imply) when Megyn Kelly decided she just had to inform the nation, and world, of white supremacy's point-of-view.

No, no, no - all of this is reflective of black racism, you see:

Including me saying Fuck Glenn Reynolds.

There ARE evil whites on the other side of this divide,...

L.A. Scam Artist Finds A Scam Worthy Of His Efforts

Latinos are upset because they never thought a man of his integrity would choose to work for a pyramid scheme:
Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has been named Senior Advisor to Herbalife's Chairman and CEO, Michael O. Johnson and the company's board of directors.

Obviously, cheating on his wife while in office wasn't clue enough,...

Cultism's Career Counseling (But Without Being Asked)

This is my pal, Jeff Davies, of San Francisco's infamous Brian Jonestown Massacre. One band that was singing about cultism long before I ever noticed it's influence on me or society.

Jeffy works in an L.A. cafe' now. I'm not surprised:

That's where NewAgers think such awareness should land us,...

"Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City": Christian Cinema - In Sound

Ooooh, see, listen. This is a pretty good Rap album from 2012 - and my hometown. Practically a documentary of a young guy, purely by circumstance, having to desperately try to stay alive in the killing field he was raised in and loves. Weird, I know. Being an atheist, I don't agree with it, right from the beginning, but I'll be damned if I don't respect this representation of the world, as readily as Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon.

Yes, it's that good, sometimes.

A new-to-Rap listener tip:

Kendrick Lamar's a wordsmith, down with Dr. Dre, so I suggest headphones and your full attention:

A poet living life and death can trick you, and actually get deep,...

It's A Church And A Religion And A Crime Against God

I've got a nagging feeling - once Scientology is cracked - the entire NewAge framework will be,too:
With just days before a court order will force the Church of Scientology to turn over thousands of pages of evidence in Laura DeCrescenzo’s lawsuit alleging abuse during her employment in the church’s “Sea Org” — including an abortion she says was forced on her when she was only 17 — Scientology has applied to the U.S. Supreme Court for an emergency stay to stop the lawsuit in its tracks.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald Sohigian has already decided that DeCrescenzo is entitled to her own “pc files” — confessional material that was compiled while she worked for the church from only nine years of age, joining the Sea Org at twelve and then finally leaving it at 25 in 2004. Scientology has appealed and lost that decision twice, most recently at the California Supreme Court. Now, Scientology wants the U.S. Supreme Court to review that state supreme court decision, but in the meantime, it wants an emergency stay to freeze the case so the church doesn’t have to turn over the documents on July 2.
Stay tuned:

This "Independence Day" could take on a whole new meaning,...

ADDED:

I wasn't going to write about Ann Althouse today but - a quick look-see over there - and she's gone delusional again, furiously defending Scientology's forced abortions, by proxy, to her readers. Right and wrong are all about feelings on "the path", you know. You know "the path."

I feel - almost daily - what a truly awful human being (and lawyer) Ann can be,...
