The New Dark Ages (Needed A Black President)

[Click the photo to enlarge, and the red text are post links - TMR]

"The Left is generally appalled at religious belief of any kind, at least, any sincere religious belief. This should not be surprising. The core of religious belief is the perception that one is a part of a much greater whole, vastly beyond our immediate comprehension, and that being part of that greater whole does more than give our lives meaning: it infuses our lives with a set of duties and prohibitions. The core of the Left’s self-identification (and I do not mean the Left to be synonymous with 'Democrats') is the rejection of any duties and prohibitions imposed from the outside, even if that 'imposition' is only by convention, and is not enforced. The Left’s key value is 'if it feels good, do it.'

This is a profoundly selfish attitude, but it is also a profoundly religious attitude: it comes with a set of assumptions about how the world works that includes the idea that our lives are indeed connected to a greater whole, but that greater whole is humanity and the world, and it can be understood — and controlled — by the elect wise enough to do so: themselves. This approach leads to the politicization of all things: politics is neither more nor less than the means of interaction among humans with differing goals, and thus the means to controlling human interactions is necessarily political. But the Left is not merely religious in the essence of its creed, it is religious in form. The Left is evangelical (it spreads its word with zeal to all who will hear, often even when they are unwilling), proselytizes (seeks growth through conversion) and depends like almost all religions on 'marker beliefs' that are so self-evidently wrong that they serve not as a true article of belief, but as evidence of membership and that you won’t rock the social boat."

And He's Going To Tell You How You Can Too!!!

"I looked in her eyes, and she wasn't there. She was very vacant and distracted. It was alarming to me. I think I felt she was losing her zest for life, and that was one of the saddest moments."

-- Bob Greene, another one of Oprah Winfrey's many NewAge gurus (in a long line of them) on how "living your best life eveeeer!" is going, in The Daily Mail.

A TMR NewAge News: SPECIAAAL REPOOORT!

"NYC nightlife transsexual extraordinaire Amanda Lepore, born Armand Lepore, is the latest somewhat famous person to release a perfume ... and is charging an arm and a third leg for the $950 Swarovski crystal-covered bottle." - TMZ

The only real question is how did they make his (her?) lips sooooo big? Well, for the best answer, we must turn to none other than:

TMR's NewAge News (For the Indiscriminate Fool)!!!

Here's TMR's own JOE NIGER to pin it down for us - what have you got, Joe?

“Ladies and Gentlemen, this is JOE NIGER reporting, and my sources say, in a rare procedure, Armand Lepore's balls were hammered with a meat mallet and then implanted into Amanda Lepore's lips.”

Why that's fascinating, Joe! Do you have anything else for us?

“Well, from what I can gather, this technique has been used only once before when A-Rod - noticing he would no longer need his balls with Madonna - became the official donor for Shauna Sand.”

Wait a minute, Joe - you mean he actually put his balls in her mouth?

You betcha!

Wow - whoda thunk it?

Well, if that's all you've got,...

He's Making Kids "Bear" A "Spiritual Connection"

"An Anaheim pastor who videotaped himself molesting a 13-year-old girl in a church office cried and clutched a Bible after being sentenced Monday to 90 years in prison for sexually abusing five children.

Raul Rosas Hernandez, 44, pleaded guilty to 34 felony counts and was led away in handcuffs after sentencing — his show of remorse prompting a scolding from the judge.

'He wasn't crying and clutching his Bible when he was violating his position of trust as a pastor and molesting his victims,' said Orange County Superior Court Judge Francisco Briseno. He called the pastor's actions 'the epitome of hypocrisy.'"

I know,...it seemed like a good idea when you were doing it, right?

Here's A Fresh Idea: Let's Throw It All Away!!!

"Bale after bale of waste paper sits unwanted at a depot in the south of England.

It is a sight being repeated all over the country because the market for all the paper and card so carefully put aside by households has collapsed.

In fact, the country’s mountain of such waste, growing at a rate of 8,300 tons a week, is costing taxpayers millions of pounds because the private firms contracted by councils to collect and dispose of it are now charging them to store it."

-- Rebecca Camber, on the usual result of this idiocy - higher taxes for those who didn't want recycling anyway - in The Daily Mail.

"Well, gag me with a spoon!  What will happen next?  The Huffington Post has published an article questioning global warming!  Why now, you ask?  Because “These late eclipses of the sun and moon portend no good to us,” as My Lord Gloucester opined?

Well, close.  Perhaps it’s because with the economy in the tank, there is little My Lord Obama can do about anthropogenic global warming, so it is best left off the table or hastened off the scene.  If the Lord of Gore is slighted in the process, so be it.  He’s last year’s news.  And, as we all know, his movie sucked anyway."

Detox? Ha! (Whatever I Do, It's Got To Be Funky)

"Actress Katie Holmes is planning to embark on a Scientology detox when her Broadway show comes to an end next week.

...Katie has long been a fan of the bizarre herbal detox plan favoured by Scientologists and offered at their three ‘Gold Base’ centres in California and New York.

‘The Clear Body, Clear Mind plan utilises a regime of exercise, sauna sweat-out, vitamins and minerals to cleanse bodies of toxins,’ said a source.

‘Katie is tired from balancing motherhood with her six-nights-a-week show and wants to get back into shape.

‘The plan involves doses of the vitamin niacin to purify the body.’"

-- The Daily Mail

"Detox diets being used by tens of thousands to kick-start their new year are a waste of money, according to scientists.

...The scientists,...say the term detox has no meaning outside the treatment for drug addiction or poisoning and the body is capable of looking after itself. "

Oh, He Was Insane Alright (They All Are)

"FAIRFIELD, Iowa (AP) - A trial is scheduled to begin next month in a nearly 5-year-old case of a Maharishi University student stabbed to death in the school's dining hall.

The family of Levi Butler filed the federal lawsuit, accusing the school of gross negligence in not preventing Butler's death.
Butler was stabbed to death in March 2004 by fellow student Shuvender Sem, who was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
In the lawsuit, Butler's family notes that Sem had attacked another student earlier in the day but that the matter wasn't reported to police. Instead, Sem was taken to an administrator's apartment, where he stole a knife while the official was meditating and later stabbed Butler.

Trial is set to begin Jan. 12 in Des Moines."

How Far "Ahead Of The Curve" Can You Get?

"The mysterious Stonehenge was a dance arena for ancient revellers listening to 'trance-style' music, according to one professor who is an expert in sound.

Stonehenge has baffled archaeologists who have argued for decades over the stone circle's 5,000-year history - but now academic Dr Rupert Till believes he has solved the riddle by suggesting it may have been used for ancient raves."

"If someone decides to use nuclear weapons in anger, I hope he buys enough carbon credits beforehand – people and things vaporized by the ensuing fires will put a lot of CO2 into the atmosphere."

-- Frederick C. Kurz, responding to a Dianne Feinstein column on nuclear weapons, in a comment to The Wall Street Journal.

"Incompetence and infighting are endemic to nonprofits, of course. But Wikipedia's bureaucracy is distinctly, fearsomely awful. The site, which dictates the online reputation of countless living people and companies, itself operates by rules that are completely incomprehensible, determined by a self-appointed group of volunteer editors who can seldom stop arguing over obscurities to explain their ways to outsiders."

-- Owen Thomas, giving us all a WTF? moment, over at the ValleyWag.

"A group called the Extraterrestrial Phenomena Political Action Committee is urging President-elect Barack Obama to "end the six-decade truth embargo" on UFOs. Specifically, the group wants Obama to 'demand a full briefing' from the military and intelligence agencies on what they know about extraterrestrial phenomena. They want him to press for congressional hearings. They want him to 'formally acknowledge the extraterrestrial presence.' And make available for development the technologies that aliens have brought to Earth.

They want him to open thousands of pages of documents, and who knows, maybe even divulge the plot of 'Battlestar Galactica's' final season before it airs this winter."

Hey Wait - You’ve Always Been That Way!!!

"Turn off that Wi-Fi network — it's disturbing our chakras.

That's what many residents of Glastonbury, a lovely medieval town turned New Age hub in southwestern England, are demanding the local government do.

Ever since the town's free municipal wireless broadband network went online in May, people have been complaining of, as an online petition puts it, 'headaches, dizziness, nausea, severe tiredness, brain fog, disorientation and loss of appetite, loss of balance, inability to concentrate, loss of creativity' — all ailments an examining physician would find it difficult to prove or disprove."

O.K. - stop - it’s kind of hard to accept that list of symptoms, as it fairly describes NewAgers anyway. Let's just get to the fun part:

"One man has,...begun making orgone generators, which use crystals, semi-precious stones and gold to purportedly put out positive energy to combat the negative vibes flooding the town from the Wi-Fi base stations.

'I have given a number of generators to shops in the High Street and hidden others in bushes in the immediate vicinity of the antennae. That way you can bring back the balance,' Matt Todd told the Telegraph. 'The science hasn't really got into the mainstream because the government won't make decisions which will affect big business, even if it concerns everyone's health.'"

It’s almost like, wow, he could read my mind. I was wondering why NewAge "science" hasn’t really gotten into the mainstream,....

But we now have the chance to perform a blind test of the hippie complaints - check it out:

One day, without telling them, turn it off. See if that clears their beady little heads.

Supposedly they don’t use it anyway, so they shouldn’t know, right?

If they do know, they’re hypocrite cheating bastards and should be chained to the Wi-Fi antennae for 48 hours, with “Muskrat Love” blaring at them from hidden speakers.

"'Pulsed microwaves feed the pineal gland with false information,' local Jacqui Roberts tells the Western Daily Press."

That must be "karma," Jacqui, because my pineal gland has been throwing off sparks ever since I first encountered NewAge.
