 Rarely have I disagreed with someone, I'm on the same side with, more - this person actually claims homeopathy has no religious component - but at least he got this much right:

Giving patients water is probably a lot less harmful than many folk remedies that fly under the scientific radar, but homeopathy has two notable distinctions. One is that people spend a lot of money on it—the US market was already close to half a billion dollars in 1999. The second is that homeopaths have demanded that their field be treated as a science, performing clinical studies, proposing mechanisms, and even convincing Elsevier to publish Homeopathy, a peer-reviewed journal. 

The articles in this special edition of Homeopathy display a number of consistent themes: internal inconsistency, a rejection of scientific standards and methods, and established science being applied to inappropriate situations (for example, quantum entanglement between people is proposed). In cases where mechanisms are suggested, they frequently violate our basic understanding of the natural world. Tying things together are unsupported assertions and logical leaps that have no place in science. The experience of reading the journal was like seeing a science publication reflected through Alice's looking-glass.

 

And seeing the world through that journal - it didn't arrive from another planet - is even worse,...

 

This Is The Stupidest Dance Ever Invented

Obama is another jackass who can't quite grasp that, while we're listening to him, we're not taking him seriously:

Part of the problem is that the American distrust of intellectualism is itself not the irrational thing that those sympathetic to intellectuals would like to think. Intellectuals killed by the millions in the 20th century, and it actually takes the sophisticated training of "education" to work yourself up into a state where you refuse to count that in the books. Intellectuals routinely declared things that aren't true; catastrophically wrong predictions about the economy, catastrophically wrong pronouncements about foreign policy, and just generally numerous times where they've been wrong. Again, it takes a lot of training to ignore this fact. "Scientists" collectively were witnessed by the public flipflopping at a relatively high frequency on numerous topics; how many times did eggs go back and forth between being deadly and beneficial? Sure the media gets some blame here but the scientists played into it, each time confidently pronouncing that this time they had it for sure and it is imperative that everyone live the way they are saying (until tomorrow). Scientists have failed to resist politicization across the board, and the standards of what constitutes science continues to shift from a living, vibrant, thoughtful understanding of the purposes and ways of science to a scelerotic hide-bound form-over-substance version of science where papers are too often written to either explicitly attract grants or to confirm someone's political beliefs... and regardless of whether this is 2% or 80% of the papers written today it's nearly 100% of the papers that people hear about.

I simplify for rhetorical effect; my point is not that this is a literal description of the current state of the world but that it is far more true than it should be. Any accounting of "anti-intellectualism" that fails to take this into account and lays all the blame on "Americans" is too incomplete to formulate an action plan that will have any chance of success. It's not a one-sided problem.

If you want to fix anti-intellectualism, you first need to fix intellectualism and return it to its roots of dispassionate exploration, commitment to truth over all else and bending processes to find truth rather than bending truth to fit (politicized) processes, and return to great, foundational humility that even the press could not overplay into hubris. And they need to drop their blinders whereby they excuse away the damage that intellectuals have done while ignoring these ancient precepts and only crediting themselves their successes, because it cuts themselves off from the very object lessons that could help them return to this time-tested approach to science, which they still flatter themselves that they follow. If you fail to fix the intellectuals first, then all your effort to fix "Americans" is going to fail; you'll bend your efforts towards getting them to look at intellectuals seriously, but they'll end up coming to the same conclusions they already have about the value of intellectuals and you'll have wasted your shot.

I'm not holding my breath.

And why should we? Especially now that we stupid folks - the real Americans - are getting the upper hand? Remember when I used to speak of the opposition and Alice In Wonderland, back in the New Dark Ages, and I told you they're nothing but a deck of cards? Well now we've fully arrived, and can see through their lies, so all they've got left is to flail. Or I should say, all the Left has is to flail.

Why Is There Always NewAge Imagery Without Anybody Mentioning Anything About NewAge?

Fine - a shot of the Bush-mocking/Maharishi-defending Paul McCartney, coupled with that loopy Alice In Wonderland spend-to-keep-from-going-broke "logic", are almost enough to warrant it - but is there anything, really, in this National Republican Senatorial Committee ad to justify ending it with Obama riding a unicorn over a rainbow? And if not, then why put it in there? This is what I find so frustrating about, pretty much, everything:


You all know what's going on (Environmentalism = Gaia, right?) but you'll still usually beat around the bush - and pretend anyone being direct is crazy - than cop to the truth yourselves.

If even some of this ad had dealt with Oprah's influence, the talk of the Obama cult, his supporter's weird declarations, his NewAge health initiatives, the gay unicorn porn, and, of course, the connection between NewAge spirituality and Nazi fascism ("ramming ObamaCare down our throats!") the conclusion to this ad would've made total sense. As it stands now, it's just a cheap shot anchored by nothing, unless there's a NewAge belief/basketball bracket connection I'm missing. Here's my take - and it backs up my accusation those in charge on the Right can't fight - or, at least, get their metaphors and symbols right:

This could've been a devastatingly effective ad, especially if introduced at a later date in the campaign, but instead it plays like first year college-level snark, which may make a few people laugh, but doesn't do anyone else much good.

Day By Day, Hour By Hour, & Minute By Minute

We're going to try and see this new Nicole Kidman film, "Rabbit Hole", because A) she escaped Scientology's grip, and B) the "Alice In Wonderland" reference, and C) the movie seems to be getting at a lot of things we've noticed about grief. Not just the pain, or the pain of loss, but the pain of loss when you're surrounded by idiots:

Eight months after the accident Becca and Howie are trying to restore a measure of normalcy to their lives — to “cope,” to “move on,” or whatever other banality comes to mind. They are treated, by their neighbors and friends, with a pitying deference that they extend to each other when they are not agonizing (or passive-aggressively squabbling) over just what they should be doing. To stay with the well-meaning language of therapy — an idiom that shadows so many of the conversations in this movie — there are no right answers. And that makes matters worse, especially for Becca, who seems determined to take control of an impossible situation and by magical thinking and sheer force of will repair her broken life.

Yep. No one shallow has anything to say that can help when the big ones hit. And even more important, beyond various NewAge cliche's, now'a'days they don't even try.

We've noticed few will ever do what we ask - they always do and say what they think we want or need (how arrogant is that?) when we've been very clear:

Hit the "donate" button and save the antagonistic NewAge, recovering hippie, therapy lectures on "fear" - that they don't even recognize are antagonistic NewAge, recovering hippie, therapy lectures - for your guru.

Hippies just make bad situations worse.

We got an email from a lovely woman a few days ago, that we sat up staring at last night, still finding it all so horrifying we didn't know how to respond. It said:

I scrolled down his wall and read all the encouraging words from the many people who care about him. Then I came to this, and my blood turned cold.

And I just wanted to throttle the stupid bitch. How completely clueless does someone have to be to say such an inane thing to a dying man?

How about so completely clueless "you wish I could make your benefit truly!"? (That line cracked me up!) No, there's no help for such people, they'll just continue their reign of terror, with offerings which are completely alien, destroying anything that remotely feels like normalcy - or says you'll ever get there again. We're sorry. Short of destroying NewAge in this country, we don't know of anything else that will help.

But we do know it won't be yoga.

Don't Be Afraid: We're Just Talking About Fraud

One of the best things about this current period is how many articles refer to whatever NewAgers had just been doing for the last few years as now "colliding with reality".

Of course, what's great about it, though it still goes unspoken, is the admittance that what NewAgers were doing before was crazy - clearly, whatever it was, until now - it had nothing to do with reality.

There's also, now, a lot of talk about there having been an "Alice In Wonderland" quality to it all.


Which was probably true, if you were one of those that accepted the wrong information as correct, but it was more like Hell if you did not.

Part of the reason it was more like Hell is because the NewAgers who supported incorrect information didn't just leave it at that, but would openly make life very, very difficult for anyone who understood what was true.

Which means the people who seemed "bad" were really the good guys.

And the NewAgers, who tried to seem "nice", were really being evil.

Considering all the pain NewAgers caused, when they thought they could get away with it, it'll be quite satisfying whenever they begin going to jail.

I've made this analogy too many times to link to them all - click the "Alice In Wonderland" tag, below, to see them - but here's my point, once again, about what has been the influence of these (twisted) people - and the answer to them - from Alice In Wonderland:

Let me know when Andrew Wakefield (the study's quack author) Oprah, Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey, etc., get the news and start telling us, James Frey-like, how very, very sorry they are for attempting to deceive us - and for all the children's lives that were lost as a result of their deception.

And here's my multi-billion dollar exit question:

Is Oprah - the (red) "queen" of daytime talk - ever going to be held accountable - and forced to give back any of the money she earned - for being part of it?

Nightmares, Fairy Tales, My Life And Yours

Sorry about yesterday's single post, Folks, but as you can see (by the time stamp of 4:24 AM) it was written after another one of those horrible post-murder/divorce NewAge nightmares I have (four years and counting) which can be so draining I don't feel like doing anything afterward. I told a new friend my story yesterday, and he was like, "That's one of the saddest stories I've ever heard" - which is true - but (though I didn't say so at the time) it's not nearly as sad as the idea I've got to go on in a world that encourages such things to happen, while forcing people, like me, to endure under it's weight.

Personally, I don't get it. I'd think, with all the supposedly smart people in the world, someone (other than myself) would decide to focus on delusional thinking - nailing it as the cause of so much of what's wrong out there - but no, most just go on as though it's perfectly normal that people are, generally, totally hypocritical and insane and that's the best that society can do or hope for. No call for a new "Age of Enlightenment" or anything, just more mindless bickering passing for debate - even when there aren't two sides to an issue - like we're destined to listen to The Wizard Of Oz, or sit at Alice In Wonderland's tea party, forever.

I've been really liking the term "tea parties": it's so fucking versatile.

Anyway, I'm back - and back to work - so stay tuned:

I Want My Old Life Back (And I'm Going To Get It)

Somebody just sent me this MADTV video to cheer me up, and it worked, reminding me of the life I enjoyed before all this NewAge nonsense entered my world. Whoever you are, Anonymous, "thanks".

Man, it's been a bum four years. From the first night I walked into my bedroom and asked, ""Honey, are you in a cult?", and my wife didn't say, "What the hell are you talking about?", it's just been one long social disaster. Like, right now, I can't see how Barack Obama can look at a girl's ass and it garners massive interest, and millions of comments world-wide, but a black American can say, "My ex-wife was taken advantage of, sexually, by a homeopath and, together, they have killed three people (the first one being her own mother - and provide proof of all of it - and the two of them are not in prison) but all I get is a smattering of comments, with most of them along the lines of "Get off the internet!" or "You're a pussy!"

The idea there are two killers walking freely, either here or in France, apparently bothers no one. What seems to be of major concern - and must be stopped at all cost - is me being upset enough to blog about it. I just can't see how that works.

Or rather, I can, and it bothers me - a lot.

Years ago, before I knew anything about NewAge, I told a friend of mine my then-wife had come home declaring she could walk through walls. His answer? "Don't worry about, it's harmless." - and, then, he gave me some stupid book about a talking gorilla concerned about the environment.

Years later, after my marriage came apart, I spent a year reading my wife's diaries, listening to cassette tapes she made with various "psychics" and "mediums", and reading every NewAge book she owned - only to discover this madness I was learning about could be found on Oprah and other popular TV programs (including those on PBS) and in our movies; in the mouths of celebrities and politicians - but, now, hardly anyone thought what used to be called "flakey" beliefs were strange at all. Oprah isn't a woman who spreads misinformation and quackery - she's seen as probably "the most moral woman in America". Gavin Newsom, the NewAge mayor of San Francisco (easily one of the cult capitals of the world) sleeps with his campaign manager and best friend's wife, only to sail to a re-election victory with 75% of the vote - because he stood up for gay marriage. (His best friend's marriage was obviously worthless in comparison.)

Homeopathy is sold in every "progressive" store in the world, though it's supposedly nothing but water or sugar pills. People say it, too, is "harmless" though 900 people just lost their sense of smell from using it, a couple of parents just got convicted of manslaughter for killing their kid with it, and I've documented countless deaths and other mishaps from this dangerous belief and the cult that supports it. But there's nary a peep from the news media asking why or how we've slipped the bounds of reason enough that this is so.

All I see is The New York Times, and countless other newspapers, supporting these ideas. I see TIME Magazine supporting these ideas. I see what seems like almost everyone supporting every solipsistic belief they can get their hands on, and the flakier the spokesman the better. Andrew Weil believes in Uri Geller's spoon-bending abilities? Well let's get our medical advice from him! Deepak Chopra was a follower of the Maharishi and, together, they tried to run a scam on the Journal of the American Medical Association? Why, let's get medical (and political) advice from him, too! Being a lying quack is, clearly, the perfect credential for credibility in the mediasphere these days.

And in politics: Dennis Kucinich saw a U.F.O. while standing on Shirley McLaine's balcony - he must know what's going on! Tom Harmon thinks bee pollen cured his asthma - and disses any scientist who suggests otherwise - let's put him in charge of healthcare! Barack Obama's main qualification for the presidency was that he had no qualifications for the presidency!!! Yes, yes, it's all making sense to me now!

At the end of Alice In Wonderland, the poor terrified girl is being chased by the Red Queen's army when, all of a sudden, she gets angry and - grasping reality -she spins on the soldiers, shouting, "I'm not afraid of you! You just a silly deck of cards!!" and - poof! - just like that, that's exactly what they returned to being.

That, my friends, is The Macho Response. And whether anyone likes it, understands it, or hates it, I'm going to keep that attitude until either this nonsense is destroyed or I am. I've told you: I am the new Black Lightning, working on a broken computer - and with a broken heart. And, as much as I hate the words, for now on, as I work to expose and eliminate NewAge from the public sphere, I am going to give the millions of apologists for the "spiritual" underpinnings of liberalism the very same reply they've given me as they've rejected cultism and reason as the obvious answers to the belief problems - including "Hope and Change" - that they've created for us all:

"I don't care."
