I Finally Found Something That Suits The Times I Live In

I came up in foster homes, which means I wasn't raised by my parents, filling my head with nonsense fairy tales of religion and how perfect I was, but was constantly given guidelines - by strangers - on what was expected of me and the difference between right and wrong. My upbringing was so unique, the rest of the world looks like that, above, almost every time I engage with it.

 Just plain weird.

And this is why. You see, unlike with the rest of you, becoming a liar wasn't one of the foster care guidelines. Because of my up-bringing, I am actually less likely to lie than the rest of you, more likely to feel disgust towards you for doing it, and I'm happy to expose the lies (and liars) I encounter because it's how I derive fun from living in a world of deception. I don't worry about busting someone else's bubble, or their carefully-constructed facade, I worry about protecting myself.

And - as this speaker makes clear - you're almost all professional liars. I'm the one put-upon here. That's who I've always been. Surrounded by fools who think lying is an acceptable way of life and no compulsion not to lie about it. They want me to join them. Tell me:

Was "medical" marijuana really about helping people with AIDS, or did gays just want to smoke and were willing to exploit anyone and anything - including the deaths of their loved ones - to get what they wanted?

I was there - they're liars.

To me, you're all the gay reach-around artists of my youth, still trying to make me think you're a girl. (The good kids were always their focus, as though gays were demons from Hell, doing Satan's bidding.) Sorry, but I've never been a "Lola" fan, never thought deception was doing the right thing, and never found men or women lying - or the new levels of wannabe "honesty" they've produced - attractive.

"Character, integrity - that's still what matters - that's always what's going to matter."

Unless she, and the people running foster homes, were lying.

And - considering everything - that's a real possibility,...

Nina Paley MUST Do Mormonism Next (Or Scientology)

Talk about clearing out a niche for yourself - I'm jealous of this one:

If you ever wanted to learn about Hinduism the fun way, then check out Sita Sings The Blues, this real charmer of an animated film that YouTube has online - in it's entirety!

It was made by an American, Nina Paley, using (mostly) the same techniques South Park employs, but to greater effect. And the story! Sheer madness:

Sita, the wife of Rama, an avatar of the Hindu Supreme-God Vishnu, is abducted by the king of Sri Lanka, Ravan. Hilarity ensues, blood is spilled, lessons are learned, etc.

This is the Ramayana, one of the great epics of India, and Sita Sings The Blues has three contemporary Indian religious scholars, light-heartedly explaining it to us. What's special is, they're mostly telling it from the point of view of the gods, with a tiny bit of historical data thrown in, as they correct each other, laugh, step on each other's sentences, and make jokes ("She is the most beautiful woman in the world. Her skin is fair like the lotus blossom. Her eyes are like lotus pools. Her hands are like,..um,...LOTUS'!")

But along with telling a cool story, can you think of anything more fun to animate (and to watch) than the multi-faced and multi-armed animal/human/monkey warrior hybrids of Hinduism? You can have a ball with different animation styles - and Nina Paley does (including Thai puppets) showing us different incarnations of the same scene sometimes. Blue men, demons, and super curvy women whose heads (and other body parts) go side-to-side, at will, when they talk and dance.

Oh yeah, the story's sometimes advanced by these interludes where some old 78 RPM era recordings play, for apparently no reason - Sita Sings The Blues - get it? I don't, but I like it. I like it a lot:

Religion rarely ever gets this good,...

Canaries In A Coal Mine: Afraid To Run Out Of Oil, Afraid Of Vaccines, Afraid Of A Fast Paced Society, Afraid Of Straight Men, Afraid We're Warming The Planet, Afraid,...

It'll never stop being weird to have NewAgers ask what I'm afraid of - and they always do - as though fishing for how they can provide another dose of it:

Meanwhile, I can't think of a single tactic used in this film that's not being employed by them today,...

It's Good Saving Gaia From Conservatives Stopped This

Somehow, after seeing the two examples of "emotion" presented here - and comparing them with people today - I don't think this film had the desired effect.

They remind me of Ann Althouse, declaring the less frivolous - in a crisis - to be no "fun,..."

I Fixed TMR's Donation Button (It Broke Out Of Greed,...)

It's hilarious that my readers have been more concerned about/aware of the blog's broken "donate" button than I have, but the last donation I received - which was the computer I'm writing this on - has changed my life so radically I barely have time to post anymore.

Or at least like I used to:

For instance, I've just spent the entire last week dealing with software issues - I'm talking pulling my fucking hair out - in an effort to create something I can give back to TMR's readers. No shit.

That should tell you where my priorities are/have been. To those who have donated, or plan to, I am as grateful as one of those swollen-bellied African kids should be for a sandwich, but my mind has honestly been on the work - whether it's changing minds online, or preparing to eventually do so offline. (Yeah, I suffer from serious tunnel vision,...) Don't get me wrong:

I want the money - but I need it to do what's important.

So look over on the right (under that outstanding quote by "Mr. Rational") hold your nose, and do the dirty deed - knowing I'm rubbing my hands together on this end, repeatedly saying:

"I am The Crack Emcee - bloggillionaire. I own some passion and a rock."

Screw that - keep it in the realm of possibility:

"How you know me doctor?"

Cracks me up, every time,...

Tie Up Your Boobs (We're All Going To Die)

Scientists discover ‘real-world’ ecstasy use is more dangerous than lab tests:
For a glimpse into real-world drug use, Australian researchers went to parties where people were using a drug known as ecstasy - and discovered that users' brains were at far more risk from the drug than anyone had suspected.

The researchers also found that ecstasy pills often contain a variety of other drugs.
Jim Carrey Got a Really Stupid Haircut:
Jim Carrey, that nearly forgotten relic of the '90s, tried to improve his image and box office relevance by getting himself a new haircut. It's not working.

Carrey's wide mohawk is not the sort of haircut that an adult Canadian should be sporting, at least not one like Jim Carrey.
Well, now that he's done killing babies with Jenny McCarthy, maybe it's the best he can do,...

John Lennon's letters to be published by Little, Brown:
The letters of John Lennon will be published in October 2012 by Little, Brown, the publisher announced Friday. "The Lennon Letters" have been compiled in cooperation with Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow. It's the first time she has given permission for a selection of his letters to be published.

Editing the book and writing its introduction is Hunter Davies, the official Beatles biographer, who has tapped Ono's own archives as well as tracked down correspondence from Lennon that is in the hands of collectors, dealers and the original intended recipients.

In the release about "The Lennon Letters," the publisher points out that Lennon, who died in 1980, never had a chance to convert to email.
Also, there's one letter already out there, and a Beatle business book on the way.

Monty Python? Most of the time it wasn't funny, says Terry Jones:
"Some burst out laughing at the mere mention of a dead parrot. Others find Monty Python’s surreal humour merely, well, silly.

But now those who have never quite got the joke have found an ally in the shape of one of the stars behind the cult comedy.

Terry Jones has confessed that he ‘only occasionally found Python funny’.

Jones, 69, added: ‘I used to watch in trepidation at things that didn’t work wondering if no one would laugh.’

When asked if it was a ‘cop out’ to fill in the gaps between comedy sketches with cartoons, he admitted: ‘Yes.'"
Theatre Review: We're All Going To Die!:
The perky refrains in the freaky existential cabaret written and performed by the playwright Young Jean Lee are probably not going to be squeaked out by Britney Spears, wailed by Mariah Carey or even bellowed by the freak-flag-waving Lady Gaga anytime soon.
And all I can say is "Thank goodness for that!"

Kota Ezawa's "Beatles Über Alles"

Don't forget the world described here is the NewAge cult hell you fucking moron meditating hippie freaks are trying to create, with your goddamned recycled Whole Food organic health trip obsession, you fucking losers - you even brought Jerry Brown back (and people are calling Obama's term "Carter II") you fucking idiots. Click the tags at the bottom of the post to see how many other ways you've already willingly gone down the road to becoming as much like Nazis as possible:
I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles
And never frowns
Soon I will be president…

Carter power will soon go away
I will be Führer one day
I will command all of you
Your kids will meditate in school

California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California

Zen fascists will control you
100% natural
You will jog for the master race
And always wear the happy face
Close your eyes, can't happen here
Big Bro' on white horse is near
The hippies won't come back you say
Mellow out or you will pay

California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California

Now it is 1984
Knock knock at your front door
It's the suede/denim secret police
They have come for your uncool niece

Come quietly to the camp
You'd look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don't you worry, it's only a shower
For your clothes here's a pretty flower…

DIE on organic poison gas
Serpent's egg's already hatched
You will croak, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown

Completely Out Of Touch (So Just Get Out)

These fools are NewAgers - and they're completely insane:
A group of Democrats complain Styrofoam cups in the House cafeteria could contain carcinogens.

In a letter to Speaker John Boehner (Ohio) and other Republican leaders, the nine Democrats say the Styrofoam cups and other dining materials could hold chemical components that could cause cancer. The Democrats are upset with the switch to Styrofoam from recyclable materials put into place when Democrats ran the House.

The letter asks Boehner to reconsider the switch away from recyclable to polystyrene-based foam containers, and warns that the health of visitors to the Capitol could be compromised.
These folks have gone recycle crazy. Bring a thermos to work, if it bothers you so bad. Why should we have to pay three times more because you're a wimp about styrofoam? Get a grip.

Even better, get out of politics.
