When The Macho Response began, after the phenomena of cultism started destroying my wife and life, the constant refrain I heard - from every corner of the globe - was "there are no cults". 

                     

Nobody says that anymore.

No, nobody says "there are no cults", today. Not after the NewAge hit the world full-force, with QAnon, all these quacks and anti-vaccine cults, the fantacist “Cult Mom” killing her kids to run away with a guy spouting nonsense, the documentaries, movies, and TV shows (which I predicted, here, around 2011) and, now, NXIVM’s own “Vanguard”, Keith Raniere, a homegrown cult leader, I assumed (after watching him get away with it since 2007), would be creating his horny harem of silly Stepford wives for the rest of his life, just got 120 years.

Like so many others affected by cultism, it's far too late for this new, post-pandemic, flush of enlightenment to change my life for the better, but, whenever the world realizes Oprah is it’s most powerful woman, for no other reason than she wasn’t a (black) “man” and so, could lead other gullible women to guys like this asshole - all to try and escape reality - boy howdy.

THAT’s gonna be an enlightenment-level of "woke" empowerment, I don't think, the planet's ready to accept. And I don't wanna miss.

The Lies That Whole Foods Told (TMR's Told You, Too)

When a self-educated blogger can sniff out fraud better than most, by years, or even decades (Dr. Oz anyone?) it should be obvious our system of education is but one of those frauds, being publicly perpetrated, amongst many others. Like, take Whole Foods, please:

Transcendental Meditation Free has posted a timeline of the Maharishi's "teachings", showing how they changed over the years to accommodate unforeseen circumstances, like people seeing through his lies. Here's a TMR favorite:

  1967 on:  Capitalizing on his Beatles-fueled notoriety, Maharishi continues to sell TM as a means of spiritual rejuvenation. At some point Maharishi sells "advanced techniques" for the devoted to accelerate their race to enlightenment, including techniques to sleep better and quit smoking. Maharishi also, in response to questions about time, states that 3-5 years is how long it takes to get enlightened through the practice of TM. This time frame is later expanded to 10 years or more after many complain they have been meditating longer than 5 years and are still not enlightened.

Whatever the reason, they make me glad Jobs, like slavery, is dead.

Right (Before Going Off The Rails)

Our society doesn’t know anything about marriage.

Oh, there are certainly some individuals, some couples, that possess immense wisdom and knowledge on the subject; wisdom and knowledge earned from years of experience, crafted with an intuition and maturity that few achieve and fewer even attempt to achieve. Some people in our society know something about marriage. My parents know plenty about it. They’ve been married for over 30 years, they’ve had six kids; they’ve seen the ups and downs, they’ve withstood every challenge and obstacle that the world can present. Their marriage is real, their love is real, and it’s an inspiration to me and my wife. There are some in my parents’ camp, but our society as a whole? No.

No, it doesn’t know a thing about marriage.

Just look at what we’ve done to the institution. Look at the sorry state of the sacrament. Consider how frivolously and arrogantly many of us flutter in and out of marriages, like the union isn’t any more significant than a part time job at Applebee’s. The turnover rate in marriage these days is worse than the turnover rate at telemarketing firms. The “prevailing wisdom” about marriage is bunk. It’s garbage. It’s trash. It’s one of the principle reasons why our culture can not claim to be more “enlightened” or “advanced” than societies past. Yes, I am aggressively, passionately, unapologetically hostile to our culture’s “lessons” about life and marriage; that’s another thing I learned from my parents.

I’ve been married to my wife for two years so I don’t pretend to be some sort of budding marriage counselor. Still, I know enough to recognize lies when I hear them. I know that we’ve weathered the storms and drawn closer to each other by rejecting virtually every piece of marital “insight” this twisted country has to offer,...

Cheese And Whine (We Can Be Arrogant, Too, Y'know)

A Question For The Many Followers Of The Dalai Lama: When He Finally Steps Down From Power Will You Ever Finally Stand Up For Yourselves?

"Buddha" is the number one search term for TMR and, considering the number of people who think Buddhism and all that flows from it is cool, I (and a few others) don't see how most supposedly-educated people in the 21st Century can hold their heads up in public:

Yes, the Dalai Lama, doyen of the West’s metropolitan chattering classes and hero of every suntanned seeker of spiritual enlightenment, has decided that 52 years is rather long enough to have claimed to speak on behalf of the Tibetan people (10 years longer than Colonel Gaddafi has been making similar BS claims in relation to Libya) and that the time has come for a leader “elected freely by the Tibetan people”. One question springs to mind: what took him so long?

I have never understood the Western hippyish love-in with this giggling monk from the East, where everyone from Hollywood royalty (Richard Gere, Sharon Stone) to literal royalty (Prince Charles) treats him as some kind of unfathomable well of godlike insight. After all, this is a bloke who claims to foreswear worldly goods yet who once guest-edited French Vogue, a mag packed with photos of half-naked women holding handbags that cost more than my house. He’s also done an advert for Apple, which I suppose is marginally better than doing one for BP, and he frequently turns up at glitzy celeb balls held in his honour, including one at which Sharon Stone introduced him as “Mr Please, Please, Please Let Me Back Into China!”, silly bint that she is.

Also, the Dalai Lama has the sorts of views on women and ethnic minorities which if they were uttered at an Islington dinner party would lead to half the guests instantly text-messaging Trevor Phillips to complain. One expert describes Tibetan Buddhist theocracy as “relentlessly misogynistic”. The Dalai Lama says gay sex is “unnatural”. In 1993 in Seattle (where else?) he told a fawning audience of students and part-time Buddhists that “nature arranged male and female organs in such a manner that is very suitable… same-sex organs cannot manage well.” Someone needs to send his Holiness a gay-sex manual. It is striking that some of the very same latte-sippers who get hot under the collar about the Pope’s hang-ups over homos and women also decorate their homes with the paraphernalia of a religious figure who believes the exact same stuff.

I guess I'll just have to accept that most people's beliefs are so superficial and pathetic, I'll never be able to expect anything more than blind cultists, searching for invisible "energy", by following a bunch of nobodies claiming to deliver magic that never appears.

Falling For The Ol' "Spiritual Enlightenment And Personal Growth" Trick, eh? (Well, Let It Begin!)

I keep trying to tell you there's a clear connection between the American "progressive" contingent's love for NewAge spirituality, gullibility, and lying, with the economic mess we're in - the connection being the idiotic acceptance of one has led to the other - but, now that Madonna's African school deal is falling apart, maybe you guys can finally figure it out for yourselves - or maybe not:

Courtenay Geddes, a wealthy heiress from Pasadena, California, has sued the Kabbalah Centre of Los Angeles and all of its entities alleging a major swindle. Geddes’s suit — for $20 million– was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in February 2011. The news of the lawsuit comes on top of headlines concerning Kabbalah’s Raising Malawi charity reneging on a promise to build a girls academy in Malawi with pop star Madonna. As I reported exclusively yesterday, the Kabbalah Centre and Madonna have now hired a top spin doctor, Mark Fabiani, to protect the image of the singer and the organization.

Geddes didn’t name Madonna as a defendant in her suit, but she named everyone else from the Berg family to John Larkin of Larkin Business Management. Larkin is the accountant for Kabbalah. (His firm was sued in 2009 by the Black Eyed Peas for failing to file a decade’s worth of tax returns.)

In her suit, Geddes claims that in 2007, two years after she joined the Los Angeles chapter of Kabbalah, she proposed several ideas to the Bergs and to Larkin about educational projects for their subsidiary, Spirituality for Kids–now known as Success for Kids.

Geddes, whose grandfather was a German American billionaire whose considerable trust she inherited, says the Bergs and Larkin loved her ideas. She wound up investing around $500,00 in the effort. At the same time, she also became involved, she says, through other Kabbalah Center members, Donald and Orly May. She invested $800,000 with them in a real estate scheme. She’s now also suing them as well, separately. Geddes is suing the Centre, the Bergs, Larkin, and other defendants for $700,000 that she laid out, plus damages.

In her lawsuit, Geddes alleges the following: “Geddes, while looking for spiritual enlightenment and personal growth and improvement, was manipulated by Kabbalah Center and the other defendants who advantage of her sincere, trusting nature to deprive her of her monies…Kabbalah Centre has a historical pattern and practice of defrauding people by soliciting monies for various projects that never come to fruition. Geddes is but one of numerous people who have been taken advantage of the by Defendants by leveraging their position in the community as spiritual guides.”

All that money, thrown down the toilet, and for what? And don't think Madonna isn't going to be dragged into it - she will. The Material Girl mocked the anti-cult crowd when we tried to warn her (see photo) but now it's all unravelling and, like all the others, no one gets away once that happens:
