This (life) sentence perfectly describes almost anything in America right now:
It was plagued with resentment, resistance and denial, as if we didn’t want to face the fact that this perfect story,...had turned into another kind of story altogether: a story of racism, paranoia and groupthink; a story of injustice piled on top of injury and of one terrible wrong compounded by another.
Damn that's good! Practically what I ate for breakfast, though he left out a few sides of no-one-takes-responsibility, no-one-feels-remorse, and no-one-pays-but-the-victims. It's almost-perfect:
