It Was Only Make-Believe, Part II

So, as I was saying, NewAgers are getting cute.

They are the rich (compared to the rest of us) and female, too - so there's a lot of overlap, considering divorce rates and how family law "works" so some don't have to.

They seriously think they know something the rest of us don't
- and are not only getting away with it, but should.

For instance, Salon.com says Christian fundamentalists are freaking out over yoga in the military.

How true is that?

Before we even get to whether Christian fundamentalists are actually freaking out - as opposed to, say, being justifiably alarmed - since I'm not a Christian fundamentalist, but an atheist who shares the Christian's concerns, I think we should first raise the question of is it JUST Christian fundamentalists who are freaking out over yoga in the military?

Seems to me Salon.com could be showing some anti-Christian bias there.
Reading the article reveals they found one upset Christian fundamentalist - one guy - and they built their piece around attacking him. Saying the guy has a "twisted religious doctrine" is, I'm sure, just their way of showing they're against "religious divisions rather than fostering understanding" in their reporting.

Did they search for any other groups or individuals bothered by yoga's recent, and almost completely unexamined, influence? I doubt it. It's Salon. Scrupulous reporting - as opposed to extreme liberal bias - is NOT their strong suit. (Sometimes I wonder if anyone notices and, if they do, why do they support Salon - or, say, Hot Air - in such a one-sided endeavor? Considering Salon's popularity, that's a lot of people with no concern for truth or objectivity. It's amazing, really.)

Excuse me - What am I saying? Everybody else clearly knows what they're doing,…

  1. I'm pretty far from a Christian fundamentalist, and I'm wondering wtf yoga and meditation are doing in our military.

*and even if I didn't know the sordid little history of those practices being adopted by other militaries (arbeit und yoga macht frei y'all!), it would still make me wonder just why the hell we are spending tax dollars on things which essentially do not do jack shit to make our troops better at their jobs (because it is, no matter how many times people watch "Sands of Iwo Jima" -- which was a real top ten on my dad's hit, or would like to take a hit out on, list by the way -- it really is just a job they do sort of thing when you get right down to the daily grind.

*and don't get me started about this damn "women in politics" shit -- makes me really want to have penis envy when Hillary is starting to get positive story-telling for her started...looks like the Dems are still as stuck on stupid as the Repubs if they run that tired old retread hack in 2016 (interesting word "hack" by the way -- fascinating etymology when used in this sentence ;) ).
Maybe we could just dispense with everything: have Hillary, Ann, and Michelle run for pres next time up and then we can all get our inner goddess on (and the newspapers can really have a field day with Christian fundies disapproving of goddess worship, the View's and Fox n Friends' ratings will go through the freaking roof -- a big old win for everyone then)
arbeit macht frei mit der yoga on der side mit a ya yippie ky yi yay mofos...
