"Mr Dawkins: 'What about Riverhead ... Is that a cult situation?'
Woman: 'It was a cult, yes. It was Hare Krishna.' The woman said she had left and returned to the cult over the years before finally leaving about eight years ago.
Her daughter had struggled with conventional education. She had learnt to read at a very early age, she said.
'They (school), with good intentions, took a five-year-old and put her with 10 and 11-year-olds because she was their standard,' she said. 'At five she was doing crosswords, researching in the library and reading Charlotte's Web.'
That led to 'alienation' at school, the woman said. 'She looked at them (the other children) and wondered what was wrong with them why they were so dumb.'"
-- The Southland Times, reporting the testimony of the mother of another child killer (this time, it's the daughter who smothered her baby, after being in the Hare Krishna cult) which, for all you dummies - hey, at least, she got that part right - is just so much Stuff.
