The Cultural Wasteland Got Wasted (By Cookie Monster)

When a Sesame Street cover song is better than the lame original, Ladies and Gentlemen, we have some SERIOUS artistic and cultural issues to address in this country. Honestly, it's over - we're done. We've hit rock bottom. It's simply going to get uglier from here on out.

Nothing against Cookie Monster, BTW - I love Cookie Monster! But when this icon of the 5-year old and younger set's love of confections can so easily be presented as - and is - more relevant than the synth beat lust of a (admittedly superficial) teenage girl, well,...it's all the proof I need we've simply lost the plot.

The damn song isn't even any good without him!

Sigh. Four years of Barack Obama, the emergence of Mitt Romney, hardly a decent song heard in ages, and now this. It's DEVO, people, right before our eyes. The last gasps of a dying empire.

Decline is a choice,...
