Controversy? (This Distraction Is A Con-troversy,...)

This Hitler Tea Kettle nonsense is just that - nonsense - since it's the advertisement that makes it look like Hitler, not the kettle (nobody tell Ann Althouse). Just more proof we're living in an age of illusion, where even the tritest of "news" is nothing of the kind.

Considering all the ways Hitler is still in play, it's totally bullshit to even bring it up.

Hot Air got something right, so I guess the blogosphere's not exactly hopeless - yet,...

  1. Mildly amusing until you wonder: "Why would a marketer want their tea pot to be portrayed as Hitler?" You could imagine this being discussed on Mad Men in a creative session.

  2. I don't think they were trying for "Hitler" with that tea pot billboard -- in fact, I had a hard time seeing anything but a tea pot.

Now, I suppose the journalism arises in some of those folks who actually reported more on the sheer stupidity of seeing Adolf in that blasted tea pot -- but they needed to come out swinging on that rather than soft pitching, because that's where the real story lies: people can see Hitler in a blasted teapot, but they couldn't recognize the fascist loving inclinations of a certain over hyped U.S. president (because he was, you know, sexy and shit).

...and I'm laughing my ass off, because yesterday I brought up that very thing on a forum (where two days before I brought up JFK's little thing -- it's all interconnected man...groovy), only to be told I was silly...yep, that's me: just a dumb silly hillbilly who sees a teapot and thought her grandma and aunts may have been on to something about that "got the syphilis" thing

  3. Meanwhile, back at the OK Corral, it appears as though a person not just 3 weeks ago I heard defended on "conservative"/libertarian talk radio, and who has gotten fairly favorable, supportive coverage from "conservative"/libertarian bloggers/media, has added to the discussion (in rather on topic ways):

I'm kinda digging the juxtaposition, in more ways than one...now, I'm an independent, but I lean conservative...and any of you who can't wake up and smell the coffee that maybe, just maybe ol' Crack is on to something about y'all really not any different from the "liberals" you propose to be fighting (and protecting us all from and the good ol' USA too)...well, maybe it's time somebody rented out a billboard and you could start to figure it out.
    Heil JFK mofos!

PS. if you can't figure it out, or if you do and you presist...you aren't real conservatives; you're just liberal fascist hippies on the right -- Team Red as it were. ;)
