Anytime a conservative speaks and the text is followed by "greeted by applause from the conservative audience", you know you can ignore it because (with very few exceptions) "the conservative audience" are ALL they're talking before.
Conservatives talk to each other - challenging their ideas against intelligent people's never happens.
