Setting The Scarecrow On Fire

This is rich:

"Homeopathic medicines will be subjected to tougher regulation under a bill before the federal parliament.

Under the draft law, a regulatory framework will be put in place for homeopathic and anthroposophic medicines.

Currently, many of these medicines aren't legally required to be listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods and are exempt from manufacturing requirements.

Health Minister Nicola Roxon said the government had consulted extensively with homeopathic and anthroposophic practitioners and suppliers on an appropriate level of regulation for these substances.

She said the July 2011 start date for the tighter regulations would give the industry time to comply and allow for further consultation.

The bill also gives the health minister the power to issue lists of permitted and banned ingredients for different classes of medicines.

A person wishing to have a new ingredient included on the list must apply to the minister.

Debate on the Therapeutic Goods Amendment (2009 Measures No. 1) Bill 2009 was adjourned."

O.K., so what do we have here?

Well, for starters, they're discussing the regulation of water - H2O - which already puts this item in the realm of the ridiculous. Instead of regulating water, Australia should be busting these homeopathalogical fakes for fraud, because that's their crime.

Second, they're calling this "medicine," which is really stupid because - though they mention "permitted and banned ingredients" and "A person wishing to have a new ingredient included on the list" - anyone with a familiarity of Homeopathy knows there are no ingredients in their "preparations" what-so-ever, because of the massive amount of dilution (delusion?) they put them through.

This so-called "Health Minister," Nicola Roxon, is either an idiot or in on the scam, because, whatever she's doing, she isn't protecting Australia's health - mental or otherwise - or the wallets of it's citizens.

Rather than being the Health Minister, she's acting more like the Wicked Witch of the West.

Or better yet, The Wizard of Oz himself, perpetuating a fraud and hoping no one notices her, frantically working the rubes knobs behind the curtain.

Doesn't anyone have the courage to stop this nonsense?

Or how about brains? We'd settle for brains.

But most importantly - since this is Oz - where the FUCK is Toto?
