It's Called "Democrats Not Getting Their Way"

"There is something both startling and disturbing about the gloom that has settled over Wall Street and the country in general. In fact, looking back over the past century, it would be a stretch to rank the current problems as especially notable or dramatic. Something else is going on – namely a cultural rut of pessimism that is draining our collective energy, blinding us to possibilities, and eroding our position in the world."

-- Zachary Karabell, writing for the Wall Street Journal

  1. draining our collective energy, blinding us to possibilities

This writer is ascribing magical properties to something intangible.

    What "energy" What "possibilities"?

This entire editorial is nothing but new age nonsense.

  2. Skeptic,

That line is, I agree, but the column is filled with necessary facts - and we both know what he means: unwarranted collective pessimism is a pain in the ass.
